  • Overview

    The Brooks Motion Analysis Center (MAC) is a specialized clinical and research facility focused on the assessment of gait and movement disorders in adults and children.  We use state of the art technology, in combination with advanced clinical assessment, to improve the understanding of human movement control.  Our purpose is to advance clinical outcomes and improve functional recovery in individuals with neurologic and orthopedic disorders, as well as those recovering from surgery or sport-related injuries.  The MAC is located on the Brooks Rehabilitation campus in Jacksonville, FL.  The primary resources of the MAC include:

    • 14-camera infra-red motion capture system
    • In-ground force plates
    • Wireless and wired EMG systems
    • Ceiling-mounted body weight support track
    • Body weight support system and treadmill

     

    Job Responsibilities

    • Involvement in daily lab operations
    • Oversight of equipment use as well as integration and maintenance of equipment
    • Provide support and leadership regarding technical aspects of research and clinical assessments including equipment operation, data acquisition, data oversight
    • Data analysis and development of computer programs for analysis
    • Planning and assistance with grant applications and reports
    • Training and supervising staff on relevant hardware/software

     

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering (mechanical, electrical, biomechanical, biologic or similar) required
    • Knowledge of neuromuscular physiology, and human biomechanics
    • Demonstrate excellent computer skills and computer programming
    • Must possess strong communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment

     

    Preferred:

    • Master’s degree or higher
    • Experience with biomechanical assessments including experience with motion analysis, force plates, EMGs
    • Familiarity with human research regulations and experience working with a clinical research team
    • Advanced programming in Matlab, experience with LabView, statistical software, motion capture and EMG software

     

    Hours: Full Time; M-F 8a-5p
