  • Overview

    The Outpatient HIM Department ensures a patient's health information and records are complete, accurate and protected. Functions of the department include processing Release of Information requests, diagnosis coding, medical record analysis and reporting, and management of the Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI). The HIM Department is a key player in the Revenue Cycle group.


    The intern will assist in medical record maintenance, release of information, chart audits, as well as other various HIM related duties and special projects. The intern will also have the opportunity to shadow additional HIM Departments within the Brooks system. Overall, valuable experience will be gained in Health Information Management; a dynamic and growing career path in health-care.
